They’re serving up humanity at the dinner table,
On the alter is Christ and the Holy Ghost,
The body of Christ don’t taste no sweeter,
Even when they say he’s a serving boy,
They gave me this crown and a bloody robe,
Their lots were cast so I hit the road,
They’re beating gold together making little fishes,
The clanging and banging helps to silence you,
They keep it going through the night and,
so go all the riches, and ask pardon me sir, may we help you,
They ask if there’s more that they can do...
But no we paid, so let us through....
Save the best for themselves, tossing out the rest,
Serve the bones and gristle to their uninvited guests,
The greasy clothes they give you chill you to the bone,
They sit us at a table and leave to dine alone,
We bang our sticks and pans together howling til were,
hoarse: Please, oh please sir can we have some more?
We’re kept apart by race and religion,
Out in the streets we’re dancing in the blood
I ask what’s the buzz, an old man answers,
They’re just bloody peasants out to have some fun...
It’s just an oily tale they’re telling you
So step up and swallow and get your dues.
